Berenice is a Mexican/Canadian Woman. Her Jewels are imbued with Love and Gratitude.  Berenice, From Guerrero, Mexico, met, fell in love, and married a Canadian man. Together they moved, with her son (10 years old at the time) to Victoria, BC, Canada. Tragically, her husband turned out to be abusive. The first month of being in Canada, Berenice and her son were locked in a room. Berenice and her son escaped with nothing except the clothes on their backs. She had no idea where to go so she went to a park to sleep and ask for help when she was found by a kindly outreach worker. She and son ended up in the Women's Transition House. Such was their experience with their domestic abuser that they were treated Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. For nearly a year. Happily though, while there, she was able to learn new skills, and learn of the culture of her new community. Despite the situation, she kept smiling and willing to fight to raise her son.  Transition House was able to place Berenice and her son in an apartment centrally located to launch her first business, cleaning. She passed out business flyers and landed work on her very first day (with Spanish being her first language.) Today that business is flourishing. While supporting herself and her son she launched her second business Teocalli Jewels. This is her passion. The quality of her Jewels is apparent at first glance. Her designs are thoughtful and beautiful. And because she is so eternally grateful to Transition House, part proceeds of every sale is donated to Victoria's Transition House. Beautiful jewels, by a Beautiful Soul with Gratitude and Conscientious for the Opportunity she's been given in her new life.
